v13n3: Scholz, Seele, and Beschorner on Corporate Responsibility During War

“The Responsibility of Foreign Companies in Aggressor States in Times of Decreasing Democratic Governance and Wars,” by Markus Scholz, Peter Seele, and Thomas Beschorner

A COMMENTARY ON Brühl, R. (2024), “Should They Go, or May They Stay: Companies in Aggressor State,” Journal of Business Ethics 197(2): 271-288 https://doi.org/10.1007/s10551-024-05790-0

Abstract: This Commentary responds to Brühl’s (2024) criticism of corporate exit demands amid the Russia–Ukraine war, arguing that he misrepresents opposing views, neglects normative theory, and reverts to a Friedmanian logic, ignoring companies’ broader political and ethical responsibilities.
